The 15th annual Mitchell Heart and Sole Cancer Walk and Run raised $60,000 to support those battling cancer locally.

Mary Nutter, co-chairwoman of last Friday’s event, said some donations will continue to trickle in but the first figures are approximately $60,000. The evening consisted of honoring cancer survivors, 5K and 10K runs, a pie auction, raffle drawings and fireworks to cap the evening, with 100 teams participating in the event’s activities.

“We’d like to thank our sponsors and teams for making it a great event again this year,” Nutter said. “We just wouldn’t have been able to pull it off without the help of all the volunteers, as well.”
