Students from the University of Exeter in Exeter, England, will arrive this week in Mitchell for the 2012 Archaeology Field School.
As in past years, the students will excavate and continue research into the artifacts found at the Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village, a neolithic settlement, during a four-week period. The students are led by Dr. Alan Outram, one of the world’s leading authorities on the domestication of the horse, and by Dr. Adrien Hannus, director of the Archeology Laboratory at Augustana College, Sioux Falls. Visitors to the village can watch as the students excavate and work in the laboratory. For more information, contact Cindy Gregg at 996-5473.
