Chamberlain gets two on Class B all-state list

After a junior season where he hit .455 with 15 hits in 10 games, Chamberlain outfielder Sam Tyrell landed on the South Dakota High School Baseball Class B all-state team, which was announced recently.

After a junior season where he hit .455 with 15 hits in 10 games, Chamberlain outfielder Sam Tyrell landed on the South Dakota High School Baseball Class B all-state team, which was announced recently.

Tyrell’s teammate Hunter Hallock was named to the second team. The catcher hit .457 in his sophomore campaign.

Wagner’s Alex Kocer also made the second-team list after compiling a .390 batting average in his senior year.

Michael Buitenbos, a pitcher for Platte-Geddes/ Dakota Christian, made the first-team list for pitchers with a 3-0 record and one save in 25 innings. He struck out 30 and had an ERA of 0.28.

Parkston’s Sterling Kinneberg also made the first-team as a pitcher. Kinneberg finished his senior season at Parkston with a 4-0 record and an ERA of 0.45 in 20 innings. He recorded 24 strikeouts.

Bon Homme’s Ross Kortan and South Central’s Dustin Stukel were honored with second-team selections as pitchers.

Kortan had a 1.38 ERA and a record of 2-1 with two saves and 31 strikeouts in 26 innings. Stukel finished the season at 3-1 with a 2.08 ERA. Stukel struck out 22 in his 38 innings.
