YANKTON (AP) — South Dakota authorities say an autopsy conducted on a body recovered from the Missouri River indicate that it is a Nebraska man who went missing a week ago.
Yankton police say a checkbook and photo identification belonging to 47-year-old Jeffrey Potts of Crofton, Neb., were recovered from the jeans on the body. Authorities had earlier said that the body fit the description of Potts.
The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation will be conducting fingerprint identification as a final step in the process.
The body was found Saturday afternoon about one mile east of Discovery Bridge in Yankton. Authorities say there was no trauma to the body, which rules out foul play.
