Donna Carson, wife of state Rep. Lance Carson, R-Mitchell, confirmed Wednesday that her husband is being treated for a blood infection at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Carson, 66, entered the hospital on June 5, his wife said.
Donna Carson declined to divulge further details but said he’s on the mend. He is able to walk and is taking regular physical therapy during his hospital stay.
“He’s doing well and the doctors are happy with his progress,” she said. “He’s gaining. Every day is better, and we’re hoping he will be home soon.”
Her husband will not take telephone calls during his hospitalization, she said.
“He needs rest, and that’s what he’s getting. It’s a time thing.”
