Winter wheat forecast for SD changes little

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — The government's estimate of winter wheat production in South Dakota has changed little over the month.

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — The government's estimate of winter wheat production in South Dakota has changed little over the month.

The Agriculture Department now pegs the state's crop at just below 56 million bushels, down 2 percent from May and down 16 percent from last year.

Nationwide, the winter wheat crop is expected to be just below 1.7 billion bushels, down 1 percent over the month but up 13 percent from 2011.
