Public meetings set in ND on James River flood control

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — The Army Corps of Engineers is holding public meetings in southeast North Dakota this week on James River flood control.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — The Army Corps of Engineers is holding public meetings in southeast North Dakota this week on James River flood control.

Record runoff in 2009 and higher-than-normal river flows the past two years led to flooding in the watershed. The corps and the James River Joint Water Resources District are studying the potential for cost-effective flood control measures.

Meetings are Tuesday in Jamestown, Wednesday in Carrington, Thursday in LaMoure and Friday in Oakes.
