Pierre man arrested for DUI in Mitchell

A 38-year-old Pierre man was arrested June 2 in Mitchell after law enforcement found him passed out at the wheel of his running pickup outside the Kongo Klub.

A 38-year-old Pierre man was arrested June 2 in Mitchell after law enforcement found him passed out at the wheel of his running pickup outside the Kongo Klub.

Chad Jay Whitley is charged with first-offense drunken driving and faces a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,000 fine. His blood alcohol content was found to be 0.194 at the time of his arrest, court documents say. The legal limit for driving in South Dakota is 0.08.

Whitley has been released from jail on an unsecured $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
