SPENCER — One person was injured when a dump truck crashed into a semitruck at about 7 a.m. Monday at Spencer Quarries.
According to Hanson County Sheriff’s Deputy Casey Tegethoff, the semitruck driver was transported by ambulance to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell with multiple broken ribs and a bruised and partially collapsed lung. The dump truck driver was not injured.
The names of the drivers were not immediately available.
The crash occurred when the dump truck driver was momentarily blinded by a glare and smashed into the driver’s side of the semitruck near where the semi and trailer connect, Tegethoff said. The semitruck was most-likely totaled and the dump truck was only slightly damaged, he added.
No citations were issued to either driver.
