PARKSTON — Phil Johnson pitched seven innings for the win and found his way back to the mound in the ninth for the save as Dimock/Emery defeated the Parkston Mudcats 6-4 Sunday in amateur baseball action in Parkston.
Jon Hart had three hits and two RBIs for the Raptors and Gary Earl added an RBI double.
Brady Nolz took the loss on the mound for Parkston, pitching the entire game.
Pat Harris recorded two hits and Matt Malloy connected on a solo home run for the Mudcats, who suffered their first Sunshine League loss of the season.
Dimock/Emery (6-2 Sunshine League) takes on Mitchell at 5 p.m. Sunday in Dimock for its next league action.
The Parkston Mudcats’ next league game is against Mount Vernon at 8 p.m. Thursday in Mount Vernon.
PARKSTON ROCK BASS 0
ALEXANDRIA — Cory Marek threw all six innings as the Alexandria Angels won by the mercy rule over the Parkston Rock Bass 15-0 in Sunshine League amateur baseball action Sunday in Alexandria.
Marek allowed just one hit to Parkston’s Jared Weber. Marek recorded six strikeouts as well as hitting two home runs and driving in six at the plate.
John Greicar also had a home run for Alexandria. Greicar finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Casey Solem, Trever Vermeulen and Jordan Gau also recorded two hits in the ballgame.
Derik Bialas took the loss on the mound for the Rock Bass.
The Rock Bass return to league play at 7:30 p.m. Friday when they take on Platte in Parkston.
The Angels’ next league game is at 7 p.m. Sunday against Mount Vernon in Mount Vernon.
PLATTE 12, MITCHELL 4
PLATTE — Platte’s amateur baseball team picked up a Sunshine League victory, defeating Mitchell 12-4 Sunday in Platte.
Josh Wagner got the win in relief for the Killer Tomatoes. Grant Olson led the charge at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run and a triple.
Mike Severson and Jordan Johnson each added two hits.
Cody Palmer had three hits for the Mad Dogs and suffered the loss on the mound after throwing seven innings.
Platte improved to 2-4 in the Sunshine League and takes on the Parkston Rock Bass at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Parkston.
Mitchell’s next league game is set for Friday as well when they take on Corsica/Stickney at 8 p.m. in Mitchell.
MOUNT VERNON 8, CORSICA/STICKNEY 6
CORSICA — Mount Vernon defeated Corsica/Stickney 8-6 in 12 innings in a Sunshine League amateur baseball game Sunday in Corsica.
Phil Malde got the win, pitching the final two innings.
Chase Hetland had a big day at the plate for Mount Vernon, going 4-for-6 with three RBIs. Freddy Ellis and Jacob Johnson both recorded three hits for the Cardinals.
Luke Bamberg pitched 3 2/3 innings for Corsica/Stickney and took the loss. Ryan Buck and Steven Blom both recorded three hits in the game.
Mount Vernon returns to league play with a matchup with the Parkston Mudcats at 8 p.m. Thursday in Mount Vernon while Corsica/Stickney’s next league game is set for 8 p.m. Friday against the Mitchell Mad Dogs in Mitchell.
