Springs Blue and Gold golf tourney set for June 29

Wessington Springs Country Club will be holding its annual Blue and Gold tournament Friday, June 29, in Wessington Springs.

The tournament is a fundraiser for Wessington Springs athletic programs and will be an 18-hole, two-person scramble.

Tabor tops Corsica 10-4 in Legion action

TABOR — Nathan Kloucek pitched four strong innings to lead Tabor’s Legion baseball team past Corsica 10-4 Monday.

Kloucek allowed three hits and struck out four.

Tabor had eight hits offensively. Austin Kaul had a double and two singles and Mike Kocer had two singles.

Corsica’s Ryan Hongslo was the losing pitcher and Aaron Groeneweg had a solo homer.

Tabor (1-0) plays at Hartington, Neb., Wednesday, while Corsica is 0-1.

Renner, Crofton teams top first amateur poll

In the first South Dakota amateur baseball rankings of the season the Renner Monarchs and Crofton, Neb., lead their respective divisions.

Trailing Renner in the Class A polls are Yankton, Brandon Valley, Pierre and Sioux Falls.

In Class B Crofton, Neb., is followed by Redfield, Canova, Dell Rapids Mudcats, Dimock/Emery, Parkston Mudcats, Harrisburg and Clark respectively.
