The Mitchell Black teener baseball team defeated Spearfish 7-4 on Friday in baseball action.
Mitchell Price was the winning pitcher. Price threw a complete game, gave up 11 hits and struck out five.
Parker Wenzel and Tucker Kingsbury each had two hits. Jed Schmidt, Josh Feiner and Brandon Krogman each had a hit for Mitchell.
Mitchell scored three runs in the final two innings to grab the win.
The team is now 2-2 and is back in action today when it plays at 11:45 a.m. at Drake Field in Mitchell.
Mitchell White puts up 14 runs in win at Cadwell

The Mitchell White teener baseball team took down Brookings 14-6 Friday night at Cadwell Park in Mitchell.
Spencer Neugebauer was the winning pitcher for Mitchell. He pitched four innings, had one earned run, three strikeouts and one hit.
Sam Michels went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Neugebauer went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and Matt Muth went 3-for-3 with three stolen bases.
This was Mitchell’s first action of the season. Its next game is at 10 a.m. today at Cadwell Park against Bon Homme.
Mitchell Legion team earns sweep

CROFTON, Neb. — The Mitchell Legion team defeated Norfolk, Neb. 10-1 and Sturgis 2-1 Friday night at the Lewis and Clark Wood Bat Tournament in Crofton, Neb.
In the first game the winning pitcher was Derek Miller. He threw six innings, gave up six hits and struck out three. Jared Schmidt went 3-for-5 and Josh Schmidt also went 3-for-5.
In the second game, the winning pitcher was Kirby Furst. He threw a complete game, gave up one unearned run, struck out six and gave up three hits. Miller was 2-for-3 and drove in the two runs scored.
Salem amateur cruises to 15 run victory Thursday

SALEM — Salem defeated Hartford/Humboldt 18-3 in five innings Thursday night in amateur league baseball action.
Winning pitcher for Salem was Landon Peterson. Brendan Phillips had two doubles and a single, Brian Duxbury and a double and a single, Brian Voigt had a double and a single, Darin Coch had a double and a single, Logan Thune had two singles, Jeff Wallace had two singles, Josh Cleveland had two singles and Scott Hoiten had a double.
Scott Hoiten took the loss for Hartford/Humboldt. Jeremy Morgan had two singles.
Salem is 4-1 overall and 4-1 in the Cornbelt League and hosts Flandreau for its next game on Sunday. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
Walk-off double gives Avon win

AVON — Dan Bures had three hits including a walk-off two-run double to lead Avon to a 9-8 win over Crofton, Neb. in amateur baseball action Thursday in Avon.
Jesse Hajek also had three hits for the Bards while Joe Sees got the win on the mound, throwing all nine innings and striking out 11.
Avon improved to 5-1 with the victory and takes on Wynot Sunday in Wynot, Neb.
Two DWU baseball players sign summer contracts

Two members of the Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team have signed contracts to play summer baseball with the Northwoods League, it was announced Friday.
Erik Nockleby and Michael Lukkason will be playing in the summer baseball league that is made up of teams of the top college players from all levels of college baseball from around the U.S. and North America.
All players must have college eligibility remaining, and they are not paid. The teams are operated similar to a professional minor league team.
Corsica/Stickney handed 5-1 loss by Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria defeated Corsica/Stickney 5-1 Friday night in Sunshine League baseball action.
Chris Marek was the winning pitcher for Alexandria. He pitched a complete game, had five hits and five strikeouts. Tad DeRouchey went 3-for-4, Trevor Doyle was 2-for-3 and Joe Bau had a homerun.
Derek Bultje took the loss for Corsica/Stickney. Nate Blom went 1-for-2 and Steven Blom was 1-for-3. Alexandria’s next game is on Sunday when it hosts Dimock/Emery at 5 p.m.
Mudcats improve to 5-0 in league

PARKSTON — The Parkston Mudcats stayed unbeaten in Sunshine League play with a 5-0 win over Platte Friday in Parkston.
The amateur baseball team was led by Jeff Harris and Matt Malloy who both recorded two hits to back up winning pitcher Anthony Williams.
Miles Kuiper had two hits for Platte, which fell to 0-4 in the league.
Tiger volleyball adds three to 2012 roster

The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team has signed three more players for the 2012 season, it was announced Friday.
Karlee Huber, Maggie Stehly and Elizabeth Mahsem will join the Tiger volleyball team next year. Huber comes to the Tigers after a three-year varsity career at Rapid City Stevens High School. She led her team to a 21-4 record and a conference title in 2011.
Mahsem joins the Tiger squad after a three-year varsity career at McFarland High School in McFarland, Wis. As a senior, she recorded 225 kills, 73 total blocks and 65 digs. Stehly played varsity volleyball at Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School and also played club volleyball in Sioux Falls throughout high school.
