To the Editor:
I’ve been intently observing the mayoral race since the beginning. I have been actively campaigning for my mother, Tara Volesky, because I know without a doubt she will be the best one for the job.
Growing up I was never dropped off at daycare. My mother sacrificed her career as assistant director of admissions at Huron University to stay home and raise my brothers, sister and I. She had the most important job in the world raising four children, and I’m grateful every day she made sacrifices to be able to be home with us. She raised us to be respectful, kind, honest and non-judgmental. I know from experience she is a fearless leader and as mayor her leadership attributes will be well displayed.
She has been out front on the issues in the mayor’s race. In January I was at the Next Generation Corn Palace meeting when I saw the $35 million to $42 million plan to destroy and expand our historic, majestic Corn Palace. My mother showed much courage when she stood up in the room full of supporters of the plan and spoke passionately against it.
One more point for the record. My mom has also been way out in front on building a plaza directly south of the Corn Palace. All of a sudden some of the Corn Palace committee members are embracing her idea, which they rightly should. But will they give her credit? No.
I believe it’s time to elect my mother, Tara Volesky, who is a uniter, not a divider.
My mom will do what’s right and represent all citizens of Mitchell. Your vote Tuesday is extremely important to move Mitchell forward.
Thanks for your support.
