Suspect in Rapid City shooting pleads not guilty

RAPID CITY (AP) — A Rapid City man accused of shooting another man in the head has pleaded not guilty to an attempted murder charge.

According to media reports, 20-year-old Kelsey Reavis was arraigned Thursday in Seventh Circuit Court. He is charged with one count of attempted murder and two alternate counts of aggravated assault in the April 28 shooting of 28-year-old Christopher Levin after what authorities said was an altercation that happened during a house party.

Levin, who was recently released from the hospital, earlier testified that Reavis pulled a .45 caliber pistol on him after a confrontation.

Reavis faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison if convicted of attempted murder or 15 years in prison on each aggravated assault count.
