Teen missing after kayaking in Black Hills

RAPID CITY (AP) — South Dakota authorities are searching the Deerfield Lake area in the Black Hills for a missing teenager whose kayak was found in the water.

RAPID CITY (AP) — South Dakota authorities are searching the Deerfield Lake area in the Black Hills for a missing teenager whose kayak was found in the water.

According to media reports, 15-year-old Justin Lewis was dropped off at the lake Monday afternoon with a bright blue kayak and life jacket. But he did not show up to meet his mother two hours later. Lewis' city of residence was not included in Associated Press wire reports.

Search and rescue teams, law enforcement officers and family members spent the night looking for Lewis. They found his kayak filled with water early Tuesday morning.
