STURGIS (AP) — The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame has signed a purchase agreement to buy land next to its current location so the operation can expand.
The land sale is expected to be completed in early June.
Dave Davis, president of the museum's board, says the organization has been looking for a way to expand and offer visitors a better experience. He says there's a long a way to go before the expansion is built because funds will have to be raised.
The museum has been located in the old Post Office building in Sturgis since 2002.
The museum collects motorcycles, interprets the history of motorcycle riding, honors people who have made an impact on the sport of motorcycle riding and pays tribute to the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally.
