LETTER: Changing one-way streets would be ‘perfect storm’ for accidents

To the Editor:

As I understand the reason to change one-way streets into two way streets is to help downtown businesses.

Seems folks are having a difficult time finding their way in the downtown area.

If we are talking about the visitors in our community, making two-way streets between Rowley and Lawler would have the same results as changing the entire streets clear across town.

I live on West Third Avenue, which is a narrow street.

As we are a direct route to the bypass, we have a good flow of traffic, some of which includes semi-trucks.

Should you make this a two-way street, you will also have to make no parking available.

Many of the homes have no parking except on the street.

This would clearly make our neighborhoods dangerous for our children at play.

I believe we are creating “the perfect storm” for accidents.

Let’s look at this clearly. We need to keep our neighborhoods safe as well as help out our downtown merchants.
