SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A homeless man accused of killing a campmate with a shovel during a drunken argument in Sioux Falls has been indicted on a first-degree murder charge.
According to media reports, a grand jury returned the indictment against 43-year-old Eugene Martin after hearing testimony from police detectives and a coroner.
Martin also faces an alternate count of manslaughter, along with a count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He's accused in the May 3 death of 45-year-old Robert Thunderhawk, whose body was found in a wooded area in northeast Sioux Falls that area residents say is popular among the homeless.
Another man, 52-year-old Clint Cottonwood, has been indicted on three counts of simple assault in the alleged altercation.
It was not immediately clear if either man had an attorney.
