A Mitchell-based cleaning company settled a dispute Tuesday with a local man it claimed owed the company around $50,000.
Cleaning Specialist Inc. reached a monetary settlement with Timothy Horton, of Mitchell, for an undisclosed amount, according to attorneys for both parties.
A lawsuit filed by Cleaning Specialist against Horton claimed he owed approximately $49,149.25, plus interest, for cleanup work performed at Horton’s residence in 2010. The residence, located at 520 E. Sixth Ave., was damaged in a fire prior to December 2009, court documents state.
A jury trial to resolve the matter was scheduled to begin Thursday at the Davison County Courthouse. It was canceled and jurors were told not to report.
Both Horton’s attorney, Doug Bleeker, of Mitchell, and Cleaning Specialist’s attorney, Mike Fink, of Bridgewater, declined to reveal the amount the case was settled for.
Fink said “it was a settlement (Cleaning Specialist) could certainly live with.”
