Eric Hieb named to NSIC first team

BURNSVILLE, Minn.— Augustana senior golfer and Mitchell native Eric Hieb has been named 2011-12 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference first team, it was announced Tuesday.

Hieb tied for 94th at the Central/West Region Champisonship in Litchfield Park, Ariz., last week. He competed as an individual and shot a 22-over-par 238.

Hieb finished fourth at the 2012 NSIC Championship, earning NSIC All-Tournament Team honors for the second time in his career.

PGDCWL defeats Chamberlain 3-2

PLATTE— The Platte/Geddes-Dakota Christian-White Lake Honkers defeated Chamberlain 3-2 in the first round of the east half high school baseball Region 4B playoffs Monday night.

The winning pitcher for PGDCWL was Richard Sternberg. Drew Turnis had two hits and an RBI and Sternberg had four team hits.

The losing pitcher for Chamberlain was Hunter Hallock. Hallock also had two hits with an RBI for Chamberlain and Chris Schwartz had two hits.

The Honkers move to 7-3 on the year and their next game is at 7 p.m. today in Platte vs. Winner/Colome in the 4B east half championship.
