LETTER: Vote for Ron Paul in the June 5 primary

The America we love is failing from debt, unemployment, bailouts, eroding personal liberties and corporations buying votes. We distrust politicians because most of them only care about power. We have put up with phonies and crooks too long.

To the Editor:

The America we love is failing from debt, unemployment, bailouts, eroding personal liberties and corporations buying votes. We distrust politicians because most of them only care about power. We have put up with phonies and crooks too long. We are fed up with lies, broken promises and secrecy.

We South Dakotans can lead with a giant leap toward a more accountable and principled government. Who will lead with unwavering conviction to fight against Washington’s corruption?

Friends, Ron Paul is that man. We must balance the budget. Republicans claim they want to, but with so many “untouchable” budget items, it is impossible. Ron Paul proposes $1 trillion of cuts year one, balancing the current $1.3 trillion deficit by year three.

As with any family, our country must live within its means. Cuts are painful, but they pale in comparison to imminent bankruptcy. We need a principled leader. Republicans talk tough about limited government, but Ron Paul takes it to task. He has been defending the exact same positions for 30 years, never accepted any government aid in his medical practice, and never voted for a tax increase or an unbalanced budget. He refuses the immoral and lucrative congressional pension plan, and every year he returns his office’s unspent funds to the U.S. Treasury — $141,000 in 2011 alone. No other GOP candidate even comes close to his standards.

Ron Paul would reduce executive power, cut 90 percent of his own salary and bring the troops home.

Sadly, most politicians have a point at which they can be paid off, but not Ron Paul. He cannot be bought by lobbyists nor be bullied by Washington elite.

For Ron Paul, leadership isn’t complicated when the Constitution guides. He is a man of impeccable integrity, and he needs you at the June 5 primary.
