LETTER: Government-funded abortion is wrong

To the Editor:
There is another side to the story about the dangers of preventable care which our president is urgently trying to convince us that contraception and abortion should be paid for and practiced. The contraceptive pills are not warm little fuzzy objects but can cause significant harm to women.
Most women don’t know the effects of the “morning after” and the “pill,” which can cause early term abortions, as they are abortifacient drugs (cause abortions) along with the injectable and implantable counterparts. Even after taking the pill, women may still ovulate and sometimes conceive a child or may even abort that child.
It is surprising how many women suffer serious results from using the pills. Some are blood clots in their legs, strokes, early breast cancer, HPV and cervical cancer.
Some years ago, some respected organizations helped get Norplant, which were capsules implanted under their skin, off the market as thousands had become ill. How many of us knew that, or now the number of class action lawsuits going forward in the U.S. against various contraceptives because of harm they have caused women?
The fertile cycles of women each month are only a few days, so for information the Natural Family Planning and Fertility Care is a program that teaches how to follow it.
Now since the president has ordered the insurance companies to pay for the pills, devices and procedures, our insurances rates will increase. Is it right that we are forced to pay for contraceptive services and drugs when we believe they are morally wrong?
Plannned Parenthood clinics make $137,389,500 a year from abortions. Every day there are 3,600 or every year 1,300,000 babies that die from abortions. When we vote for President Obama or any candidate who supports abortion, we have blood on our hands.
The First Amendment’s rights are being taken from us in ObamaCare so it is time we wake up and be patriotically active to keep our freedom of life and liberty.
