Bon Homme defeats Dakota Valley 7-6

TABOR — Trailing 6-1 in the sixth inning, the Bon Homme high school baseball team rallied to defeat Dakota Valley 7-6 Monday in Tabor.

Jeff Honner’s RBI double in the bottom of the seventh won the game for the Cavaliers and relief pitcher Austin Kaul picked up the win with four innings pitched. Honner went 3-for-3 in the game with two doubles.

Bon Homme (7-4) plays Yankton Wednesday in Yankton.

Honkers fall 5-4 to Bennett County

MARTIN — Richard Sternberg took a hard-luck loss on the mound for the Platte/Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake high school baseball team Sunday in a 5-4 loss to Bennett County in Martin.

Sternberg went four innings, allowing two hits, five walks and five runs, all unearned. He struck out six batters.

Michael Buitenbos led the offense for the Honkers with a two RBIs and a triple in the loss.

P/G/DC/WL fell to 5-2 on the season with the loss and will look to bounce back against South Central at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Burke.

London records four hits, win on mound vs. Hanson

MOUNT VERNON — Cody London went 4-for-4 and pitched three innings for the win as the Mount Vernon-Plankinton-Woonsocket high school baseball team defeated Hanson County 17-2 in five innings Monday in Mount Vernon.

London was one of four Outlaws to record multiple hits as Deric Denning, Jake Sonne and Brian Vermeulen all went 2-for-3.

London struck out six batters in his three innings on the mound and allowed one hit, an RBI single to Jordan Craig.

Logan Sapp took the loss on the mound for Hanson County. MV-P-W improved to 5-5 on the season and will take on Parkston today in Parkston.

Wesleyan to hold basketball camps

Dakota Wesleyan University will be holding youth individual basketball camps May 29-31.

The boys’ camps will be held at the Christen Family Recreation/Wellness Center located on the DWU campus. The kindergarten through second grade boys’ session will run from 3 to 4 p.m. with a cost of $30.

Boys grades three through nine have two available sessions from 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m. and cost $50. A player can sign up for both sessions for a cost of $90.

The girls’ camps will be held at the Mitchell Christian School gym. Cost for kindergarten through second grade is $30 and goes on from 3 to 4 p.m. Girls grade three through seven will go on from 1 to 3 p.m. with a cost of $50 and girls grades eight through 12 will go from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for $50.

Registrations for SwimAmerica lessons are today

Registration for SwimAmerica swim lessons is taking place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Mitchell Aquatic Club pool located at 1401 N. Main.

Lessons are for children age 3 to 15 with no previous swimming skills necessary. Classes will meet four times a week at 10, 10:30 or 11 a.m.

Sessions for the lessons are May 29-June 7, June 11-21, July 9-19 and July 23-Aug. 2.
