P/G/DC/WL picks up two wins

Jon Hoeksema had three hits including a home run and Richard Sternberg struck out 10 batters as the Platte/Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake baseball team beat Chamberlain 10-0 in five innings Sunday in Chamberlain.
The Honkers returned to the diamond Monday and defeated South Central 7-0 in Humboldt.
Phillip Schroeder recorded the win after throwing seven scoreless innings.
P/G/DC/WL improved to 4-1 and takes on Chamberlain Wednesday in Platte.
Gassman throws six innings in 1-0 win for MCMC

HUMBOLDT — The McCook Central/ Montrose/Canistota high school baseball team only had one hit Sunday, but the team defeated West Central 1-0 behind starter Tim Gassman.
Gassman threw six innings for the win and Jordan Wolf picked up the save with a 1-2-3 seventh inning.
Zach Bies recorded the lone hit for MC/M/C, which improved to 4-4 on the season.
Hershey Track Meet registering now until May 19

The Hershey Track Meet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. May 21, at Joe Quintal Field.
Boys and girls ages 9-14 can register for the event at the Mitchell Recreation Center. The registration deadline is at noon May 19.
Sigmund records hole-in-one at Lakeview’s No. 3

Brandon Sigmund, Mitchell, shot a hole-in-one at Lakeview Golf Course Monday afternoon.
Sigmund shot the ace on the Hole No. 3, 162 yards, with a 6-iron. This is his sixth hole-in-one.
Lawn bowling green opens today

The lawn bowling green located just north of the Lakeview Golf Course clubhouse opens today to the public for its first full year of operation.
The green, which was open for a short time last year, is open from 5:30 p.m. to sunset with morning or afternoon times available by appointment. For more information, call Rod Titze at 996-0367.
C/S/A baseball defeats MV-P-W

CORSICA — A five-run first inning helped the Corsica/Stickney/Armour baseball team pick up a win over Mount Vernon-Plankinton-Woonsocket Monday in Corsica.
C/S/A won 9-3 despite only recording five hits in the ballgame. Lane Thomas and Ryan Hongslo each had one hit and two runs scored in the game.
Dustin Bultje went four innings on the mound for C/S/A and picked up the win. He allowed four hits and two earned runs while striking out five.
C/S/A improved to 4-4 on the season and travels to take on Parkston Wednesday night in Parkston. No stats for MV-P-W were reported.
