Mitchell track teams perform well in Yankton

YANKTON— The Mitchell High School track team had a successful meet on Thursday at the Yankton Invitational.
For the girls, Megan Farnham won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.60 seconds, which was a personal best for her.
“Megan really had a nice day on Thursday,” head coach Geoff Gross said.
“She’s getting to be in midseason form and that really showed in the 200.”
Farnham took first place in the 400 dash with at time of 1:00.40.
Lexi Weier placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.90 and Abby Sudbeck came in third place in the shot put event with a throw of 36 feet 11.75 inches.
For the boys, Jason Greenway won the 200 with a time of 22 seconds flat.
Jade Miller placed third in the 300 hurdles with with a time of 40.90 seconds. The medley relay team consisting of Austin Loes, Greenway, Nick Kummer and Luke Mauer place third and the 4X100 relay team, Loes, Miller, Greenway and Kummer, came in second place.
“We took it easy at the meet,” Gross said.
“We’re ahead of where we want to be with the nice spring weather and we knew we were going to have a meet (today) and a busy week next week.”
The Kernels are back in action today at the Aberdeen Invitational in Aberdeen. The meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
