SD PUC releases Keystone pipeline construction bonds
PIERRE (AP) — State regulators have agreed to let TransCanada Keystone cancel $15 million in bonds it had posted to cover any damage to roads and bridges while it was building a crude oil pipeline across eastern South Dakota.
PIERRE (AP) — State regulators have agreed to let TransCanada Keystone cancel $15 million in bonds it had posted to cover any damage to roads and bridges while it was building a crude oil pipeline across eastern South Dakota.
The three members of the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to release the bonds.
TransCanada Keystone lawyer Brett Koenecke of Pierre says the company has taken care of all road damage caused by the pipeline that was completed about two years ago. The Keystone Pipeline runs through eastern South Dakota as part of a project that moves crude oil from Canada to refineries in Oklahoma and Illinois.
A second pipeline, Keystone XL, would cross western South Dakota, but it has been stalled by rejection of a federal permit.
