Following are the results of the Wessington Springs Middle School Vocal Contest held April 13:
Seventh-eighth grade large group, II; fifth and sixth grade large group, II; fifth grade girl solo: Sydney Tlam, I, Abby Rang, II; fifth and sixth-grade duet: Sydney Tlam and Hailey Walz, II, Ashley Lammey and Kayla Totten, II; sixth-grade girl solo: Isabel Reyes, II, Kayla Totten, II; seventh- and eighth-grade duet, Tony Stoltz and Zeb Parsons, I; seventh-grade solo, Austin Kayser, I; seventh- and eighth-grade duet, Emily Wieczorek and Paige Grace, I-, Erin Denning and Robyn Roberts, I-, DeZarae Tollefson and Samantha Wesseling, II.
The vocal director is Lisa Hardie.
Activities for the week of April 23-30 include:
Tuesday, April 24, will be the Senior Project Presentations.
Wednesday, April 25, the Platte Middle School Instrumental Contest will be held.
A Mount Vernon Community Choir will have practice on Wednesday, April 25, at 6 p.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon.
The choir will sing May 6 at the Baccalaureate service. Everyone is welcome to join. For information contact Glenda Gerlach or Pat Deinert.
Thursday, April 26, the MidDakota Conference Track Meet will be held in Kimball beginning at 11 a.m.
Friday, April27, the Kindergarten Tea will be held at 2 p.m. The Outlaws baseball team will play Hanson-Bridgewater-Emery at 6 p.m. in Alexandria.
If there is enough interest and volunteers have been secured, back by popular demand and possibly for the last season, roller skating will be held on April 27, May 4 and May 11.
The session for kindergarten and younger will be from 6 to 6:30 p.m. and grades one through eight from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Saturday, April 28, the Tom Main Invitational will be held in Chester beginning at 10 a.m.
On Monday, April 30, preschool registration for fall of 2012 will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Please feel free to stop in between that time and register your child for the fall classes.
Registration will be held in the preschool room which is located in the Tom Young Community Center. Preschool classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday for students that have turned 3-years-old by Sept. 1 and Monday, Wednesday and Friday classes are for students that have turned 4-years-old by Sept. 1. Both classes are from 8:15 to 11:15 a.m. If you are not able to stop in on that day and would like to register your child, please contact Tonia Pranger at 236-5237 or tonia.pranger@k12.sd.us.
The Outlaws baseball team plays Corsica-Stickney-Armour at 6 p.m.in Corsica.
Just another reminder of the organizational meeting for summer baseball tournaments that will be held Tuesday, May1, in the preschool room following the elementary school spring concert.
In celebration of the Mount Vernon High School graduating class of 2012 the area churches invite everyone to join them for the Baccalaureate service on Sunday, May 6, at 7 p.m. in the Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon. Guest speaker will be Brad Veurink.
Mount Vernon will be having a citywide rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. If you would like to be added to the list for the sale, contact Rhonda Deinert at 236-5388 or Jen Block at 236-5549.
All Mount Vernon residents are invited to participate in the Mount Vernon Community Garden., The project is sponsored by the Up and Get It 4-H Club and will be located on the Mount Vernon school campus.
Club members will be planting a garden as a learning tool with hands on experience. Residents of the community are encouraged to also have a plot, tilling will be done and water will be provided. Raised beds will be available as needed. Anyone wishing to reserve a space or for further information, should contact Becky Muhs at 236-5683.
