MV-P-W picks up 5-2 win over W/LA/A

WAGNER — The Mount Vernon-Plankinton-Woonsocket high school baseball team defeated Wagner/Avon/Lake Andes 5-2 Friday in Wagner.

WAGNER — The Mount Vernon-Plankinton-Woonsocket high school baseball team defeated Wagner/Avon/Lake Andes 5-2 Friday in Wagner.

Deric Denning got the win for the Outlaws after throwing four innings. He struck out six batters and allowed three hits, including a two-run home run by Brady Cuka. Alex Kocer added two singles for W/LA/A.

Cody London pitched three innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out four.

Charlie Mahaffey and London each had two hits for the Outlaws. Cody Renken had a hit, a walk and scored two runs.

The Outlaws’ next contest is at 2 p.m. Sunday against Bon Homme in Tabor.
