RAPID CITY (AP) — A new $19 million middle school in Rapid City is set to open this fall.

Mike Kenton, director of the school district's support services, tells the media that the walls are up on the 148,000 square foot East Middle School building and crews are now working on the exterior.
It's located on Homestead Street, just north of Valley View Elementary.
About 550 of the 700 Dakota Middle School students will move to the new school, with the rest being assigned to other local middle schools.
