LETTER: Disappointed in decision to end Palace Polka Festival

To the Editor:

We have been very disappointed in the cancellation of the polka event that has been canceled for Mitchell in the fall. It has been one of our favorites. The committee choosing the bands to play in Mitchell has chosen exceptional music in the past. We felt Mitchell drew a much larger crowd than many places we have traveled to dance.

Every year we see old polka friends and meet new ones from across the U.S. and Canada. We see people at Mitchell that we do not get to see any other time of the year. Our polka people bring in a lot of business to the motels, restaurants and various places of business while we are there.

Please reconsider having the Polka Festival in the future.
