Rapid City airport's $20M renovation almost complete
Executive Director Cameron Humphres says the project will enable the airport to handle growth in passenger loads anticipated over the next 20 years.
RAPID CITY (AP) — A $20 million expansion project at the Rapid City airport is nearing completion.
According to media reports, about six weeks of construction remain on the project, which is upgrading everything from the terminal to car rental space.
Executive Director Cameron Humphres says the project will enable the airport to handle growth in passenger loads anticipated over the next 20 years.
Airport officials say construction is under budget so far. The expected completion date is set for the end of May, although additional changes requested by the city may push the date into June.
Lorie Van Bochove of Rapid City says she likes the look of the renovations so far.
She says, "It's definitely going to be really nice when it's done. They keep on making progress."
