A 20-year-old man pleaded guilty to his third domestic simple assault charge in five months on Tuesday during a hearing at the Davison County Public Safety Center in Mitchell.

James Paul Normile, 20, of Chamberlain, faces a maximum of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine after he was arrested April 1 for domestic simple assault. Because Normile has two previous domestic simple assault convictions, both related to incidents in December 2011, the charge was enhanced to a felony.

In exchange for Normile’s guilty plea, the state agreed to recommend a suspended execution of any prison sentence.

A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing scheduled for May.
