New pastor hired for Mitchell, Armour Lutheran churches

On Sunday, the Rev. Craig Benson will be installed as the pastor of Amazing Grace Free Lutheran Church in Mitchell and St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Armour.

The installation services will be conducted by the Rev. Eldon Nelson, president of the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (AFLC) at the 8:30 a.m. worship service at St. Peter Lutheran Church and at 10:30 a.m. at Amazing Grace Free Lutheran Church.

Following the Amazing Grace service, there will be a fellowship meal at noon hosted by both congregations.

Benson was a navigator in the Air Force before receiving his theology degree from the Free Lutheran Seminary in Minneapolis. He then served congregations in Radcliffe and Jewell, Iowa. Benson is also a chaplain in the Air Force Reserves and recently completed a two-year tour of duty at March Air Reserve Base, Riverside, Calif., where he specialized in counseling to military members and their families.
