YANKTON — A South Dakota Department of Transportation contractor will begin work Monday in Bon Homme and Hutchinson counties on an asphalt overlay and structure-replacement project on South Dakota Highway 25 from Highway 50 north to Highway 18.

During construction, three-quarters of a mile of Highway 25, from Highway 18 south, will be closed for about three months while crews replace the box culvert located 1,000 feet north of 287th Street.

Traffic will be detoured to U.S. Highway 81 and state Highway 46 during the closure.

Once the box culvert work is completed and the asphalt overlay portion of the project begins, traffic will be maintained through the project with a pilot car and flaggers.

Motorists should expect delays, slow traffic, construction equipment and workers, and may want to consider an alternate route. Fines are double in work-zone areas.

All work is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 1.

The Prime Contractor is McLaughlin & Schulz Inc., of Marshall, Minn.
