Lower Brule woman pleads not guilty to assaulting federal officer

LOWER BRULE — A Lower Brule woman appeared in federal court Thursday and pleaded not guilty to two counts of assaulting a federal officer.

LOWER BRULE — A Lower Brule woman appeared in federal court Thursday and pleaded not guilty to two counts of assaulting a federal officer.

Adeline Skunk, 38, is alleged to have assaulted Bureau of Indian Affairs Officer Robert Dodd on March 24.

Skunk faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, plus three years of supervised release if convicted.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges is prosecuting the case. Skunk was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
