RAPID CITY (AP) — Two contractors have been hired to put up a building project in downtown Rapid City that will cost more than $40 million.

One construction executive says the Presidents Plaza project will be "transformational."

The contractors are J. Scull Construction Service of Rapid City and Haselden Construction of Denver.

J. Scull has handled a number of large projects in western South Dakota, including a $20 million expansion of the Rapid City airport.

The developers of Presidents Plaza say the project will include condominiums, office space, a hotel and convention hall, and retail stores.

The main building will be 15 stories tall, according to media reports.
