Lower Brule man admits to failure to register as sex offender

LOWER BRULE — A 31-year-old Lower Brule man pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to failure to register as a sex offender.

James St. Cloud faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine after failing to register as a sex offender in May 2011. St. Cloud was convicted of aggravated sexual abuse in 1999 and released from federal custody in 2005.

He is required to register as a sex offender twice each year.

A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and sentencing was set for July. St. Cloud was remanded to the U.S. Marshals Service pending sentencing.
