A Mitchell man was arrested for drunken driving Saturday after allegedly rolling his pickup south of Mitchell and leaving the scene of the crash.

Mitchell police responded to a rollover crash south of the intersection of Rowley Street and Spruce Street on Saturday and found the crashed vehicle unoccupied. The vehicle had crashed into a mailbox before rolling, court documents state.

Shortly after responding to the crash, Mitchell police located the alleged driver of the pickup, 30-year-old Garrett Chad Oldenberg, at his home.

An officer noticed Oldenberg smelled of alcohol and administered a field sobriety test, which Oldenberg reportedly failed.

Oldenberg is charged with first-offense driving under the influence, failure to report a crash causing property damage and no seat belt.

He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
