A 34-year-old Mitchell man was arrested Monday for allegedly assaulting another man in the parking lot of Thirsty’s Bar on Saturday in Mitchell.

Chet Mathew Ellefson is charged with simple assault for allegedly punching Greg Neugebauer two to three times with a closed fist.

Court documents say Neugebauer had a bump and a bruise on the left side of his head as a result of the attack, and never attempted to fight back.

Ellefson admitted to authorities he assaulted Neugebauer, a police affidavit states.

He faces a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,000 fine if convicted.

Ellefson is scheduled to appear in court in May.
