Mitchell’s March for Babies is slated for 9 a.m. Saturday at the Corn Palace.
The event, which is part of the South Dakota Chapter of March of Dimes, is geared toward raising awareness and funds that will help improve babies’ health and prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
Registration is at 9 a.m., with the walk beginning at 10 a.m. A short opening ceremony will be held prior to the start of the walk. During that time, information on March of Dimes will be shared as well as a message from this year’s ambassador family, Katie and Barclay Kreth, of Mitchell.
During the walk, participants can have team pictures taken or sign up for silent auction and raffle items. In addition to the walk, there will be games, prizes and inflatables for kids. Upbeat music will fill the Corn Palace during the walk, too, said Valerie Willson, community director for the March of Dimes South Dakota Chapter.
Tickets for the raffle are $1 each or $5 for eight. The drawings for donated items will follow the closing ceremony at 11 a.m.
The March for Babies has been in Mitchell for more than 10 years.
