Country newcomer Thomas Rhett is set to open for country duo Thompson Square during the 2012 Corn Palace Festival.
Rhett and Thompson Square will perform Friday, Aug. 24, at the Corn Palace.
Tickets for the show go on sale Saturday.
Rhett hails from Valdosta, Ga., and is the son of country star Rhett Akins.
Rhett signed his first publishing deal with EMI in 2010, and shortly thereafter, landed his first cut on country superstar Jason Aldean’s platinum album, My Kinda Party, with his song “I Ain’t Ready To Quit.”
A year later, he signed his first record deal and has released his first single “Something To Do With My Hands.”
Rhett most recently opened up for artists such as ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blake Shelton, Pat Green and David Nail, and is working on his debut album.
Rhett and newly named vocal duo of the year Thompson Square are part of a Corn Palace Festival lineup that includes rockers Hinder, country legend Charlie Daniels and The Happy Together Tour.
Tickets currently are available for Charlie Daniels and The Happy Together Tour online at www.cornpalace.org or at the Corn Palace Box Office.
Tickets for Hinder also will be on sale starting Saturday.
