Emergency medical personnel transported an injured man from the scene of a single-vehicle accident at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday after the semi-truck he was driving left the road near the intersection of state highways 262 and 25 in eastern Hanson County.

Byron Thomas, 51, of Marion, was responsive while being taken from the scene, said Hanson County Sheriff’s Deputy Casey Tegethoff. The truck’s grain trailer tipped in the crash and spilled its contents along the roadway.

Authorities had nearly finished cleaning up the site by late Tuesday afternoon. The South Dakota Highway Patrol responded to the incident with assistance from the Hanson County Sheriff’s Office, Emery Volunteer Fire Department and Emery Ambulance Service.
