BHSU kicks off American Indian Awareness Week

SPEARFISH (AP) — Black Hills State University is kicking off American Indian Awareness Week on Tuesday with several presentations about diversity and cultural humility.

SPEARFISH (AP) — Black Hills State University is kicking off American Indian Awareness Week on Tuesday with several presentations about diversity and cultural humility.

The theme of this year's event is "Mending the Sacred Hoop: A Circle of Unity." It runs through Sunday.

Presenters include South Dakota's Secretary of Tribal Relations J.R. LaPlante and journalist Tim Giago.

On Friday, the university will host the 29th Annual Lakota Omniciye Wacipi at the Young Center Field House. The powwow runs through Sunday.
