SIOUX FALLS — In a doubleheader against a former conference rival, the Dakota Wesleyan University softball team dropped a pair of games to the University of Sioux Falls Saturday at Harmodon Park in Sioux Falls.
The Tigers led in both games but lost 7-1 and 6-4 in a nonconference doubleheader.
Five errors plagued Wesleyan in the first game. Brandi Nekrassoff pitched the entire game and was stuck with the loss. She gave up seven hits and seven runs while striking out three through six innings.
Nekrassoff was the only Tigers’ player with multiple hits in the opener. She had two hits including a double.
The bats came alive in game two for DWU, scoring two runs in the top of the first and collecting eight hits in the game.
Sioux Falls answered back with three runs in the bottom half of the opening frame and would break a 4-run tie in the bottom of the fifth inning and never look back.
Nekrassoff had two hits in game two and scored twice. Her sister, Roni Nekrassoff had two hits and two runs scored as well.
Katie Uttecht had three hits and an RBI in the second game. Katie Anderus did not record a hit but did have two RBIs in the game.
Roni Nekrassoff took the mound for game two and pitched all six innings, giving up six runs on 12 hits while striking out three in the loss.
The losses dropped the Tigers’ record to 6-21. They return to conference play Tuesday when they travel to take on Mount Marty in Yankton. Dakota Wesleyan has a 3-3 record in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
