BRIDGEWATER — Authorities said the dense fog Friday morning over most of McCook County was to blame for a traffic collision involving a school bus and another vehicle.

McCook County Sheriff’s Deputy Megan Jansma said the crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. when a pickup driven by Camerino Belatorre, 35, collided with a school bus driven by Todd Letcher, 40, about six miles north of Bridgewater near the intersection of 437th Avenue and 258th Street.

Jansma said there were seven children in the school bus when the crash occurred, but no injuries were reported.

The school bus was dented and scraped on its rear side panel and Belatorre’s pickup received hood and bumper damage in the crash, Jansma said.

Both vehicles remained drivable after the crash. No citations were issued to either driver.
