MOUNT VERNON: Girls State representative, alternate chosen at Mount Vernon

Congratulations to Delayna Paulson for being chosen to represent Mount Vernon High School at the 2012 Girls State and to Alaina Bertsch for being chosen alternate.
Girls State will be held May 28 through June 2 on the campus of the University of South Dakota, in Vermillion.
Delayna is the daughter of Kallen and Lynn Paulson and Alaina the daughter of Karen and Jerry Bertsch.
The girls are sponsored by the Mount Vernon Auxiliary Unit 210.
• The following are the results of the Regional Science Fair held March 20 at DWU.
Alaina Bertsch received an award from the Association of Women Geoscientists; Phillip Millar received an honorable mention in the senior division of physical science and engineering awards. Jared Long and Kody Weiss received a Certificate of Merit in the senior division of the Group Project Awards.
Congratulations students.
Activities for the week of March 26 through April 2 include:
• Today, March 26, will be a SESD Day. The Outlaws baseball team will host Wagner-Avon-Andes Central at 5:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, March 28, CBH Academic Festival will be held at DWU.
• Friday, March 30, the 2012 Mount Vernon prom will be held with the grand march beginning at 8 p.m.
This year specific picture taking times have been implemented. The public is welcome to take pictures following the grand march, approximately 8:30 p.m.
• Sunday, April 1, the Outlaws will host Parkston at 2 p.m.
• Just another reminder of the 2012 Mitchell Hunt Safe Class schedule: March 29, 30 and 31; May 10, 11 and 12; Aug. 16, 17, 18; and Sept. 13, 14, 15.
• The Mount Vernon Cemetery Association is accepting bids for the 2012 mowing season.
The bid submitted must be per occurrence with trimming included. The deadline for receiving bids is April 15. Please send inquires and bids to Linda Jones at 25511 398th Ave., Mount Vernon, S.D. Phone number is 236-5512.
Any and all bids may be accepted or rejected by the Cemetery Board.
