Scheich wins Emil S. Liston Award
Mitchell native Johanna Scheich, a student at Mount Marty College, has been named the 2012 Emil S. Liston Award winner by the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
The award is voted on by the GPAC’s eleven Faculty Athletic Representatives. The nominees must be women’s basketball players in the conference who are in their junior year academically.
Scheich is being recognized for the quality of her character, her athletic performance and her leadership abilities on and off the court.
Canistota puts three players on Region 4B team
Canistota’s boys’ basketball team had three athletes named to the Region 4B all-region team.
Alex Robertson, Cody Bunger and Jason Van Winkle all made the list after their successful seasons with the Hawks.
Dennis DeNeiu (Viborg/Hurley), Seamus O’Malley (Centerville), Cedric Hay (Parker), Kyle Kocmick (Gayville-Volin), Clayton Dye (Bridgewater-Emery), Scott Davis (Irene-Wakonda) and Shaun Becker (Freeman) were the other Region 4B selections.
Centerville’s coach Kory Muller was named Region 4B’s coach of the year.
