Local man accused of fracturing infant's ribs

A Mitchell man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly squeezing an infant and causing rib fractures.

A Mitchell man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly squeezing an infant and causing rib fractures.

Ray Palacios, 29, is charged with one felony count of child abuse for allegedly squeezing a 4-week-old infant intentionally, causing three rib fractures. The incident is alleged to have occurred in February during a verbal altercation between Palacios and the child’s mother.

Palacios faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine for the charge.
