SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Increased business at Sioux Falls Regional Airport is causing a parking crunch decades before it was anticipated.
SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Increased business at Sioux Falls Regional Airport is causing a parking crunch decades before it was anticipated.
The newly reconstructed airport parking lot has 1,750 spots, but more than 2,200 vehicles have needed parking spots in recent weeks.
Executive director Dan Letellier says about 500 extra parking spaces in two overflow lots aren’t enough to accommodate the traffic.
So the airport authority board this week approved $1.8 million to construct 800 additional long-term parking spaces south of the terminal building this year.
A recent parking study had found that 1,750 spots would work until 2020 and the airport would need 2,400 stalls by 2030.
