Mitchell student elected vice presidet at USD

Junior Alissa VanMeeteren of Yankton is the new president of the Student Government Association, while DJ Smith of Mitchell is the new SGA Vice President.

VERMILLION (AP) — Students at the University of South Dakota have elected new student body leaders.

Junior Alissa VanMeeteren of Yankton is the new president of the Student Government Association, while DJ Smith of Mitchell is the new SGA Vice President.

The VanMeeteren-Smith team garnered 54 percent of the more than 2,000 votes cast.

The election broke a campus record for student participation.
